Brothers and Sisters,
We are coming upon another important election that will determine the direction of Minnesota for years to come. I have traveled every corner of the state where Teamster members reside to discuss contract gains, representational goals and growing our Local Union. We will never get stronger contracts or see further economic gains if we sit out this election November 4th. This I promise you!
The coming election is a choice over whether we continue to pursue economic gains through legislative action with the help of candidates such as Governor Mark Dayton and the DFL-controlled House of Representatives. Without their concern for the middle class and public services we would be back in a conundrum of wage freezes, status quo bargaining and continued economic decline. Governor Dayton and the DFL-controlled House have both supported and protected collective bargaining, union rights and strong public sector budgets. We cannot afford to go backwards!
Throughout my travels many union members have come up to me and asked how to get more involved making our Local Union stronger. Now is the time to get involved. Starting Thursday, October 9th MN Teamsters will have an active phone bank for union members to volunteer to win this election. The phone bank is set up at the MN Teamsters Bldg: 3001 University Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55414 (3rd Floor Meeting Rooms) from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. The phone banks will continue to operate every Thursday in October from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.
