ASF will award four (4) $1,000 scholarships to dues-paying ASF members, their spouse/domestic partner, or eligible dependents enrolled in a certificate or degree program at a Minnesota State College or University for 2024-2025. The scholarship may be used for any field of study, to cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, housing, food, etc. up to the cost of attendance. At least one scholarship will be awarded to an ASF member and at least one scholarship will be awarded to a spouse/domestic partner/eligible dependent.
ASF will follow the recommendation of the Financial Aid Office on the recipients’ campuses to distribute the award. Normally, the award would be distributed in equal parts across two semesters unless the recipient has a need to have the scholarship distributed in one semester. (i.e. last semester, financial hardship, financial process may not be complete etc.) These scholarships are not annually renewed.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Be a dues-paying member of MSUAASF or their eligible spouse/domestic partner or dependent as defined in Article 15, Section E, Subd. 1 of the ASF collective bargaining agreement.
- Eligible dependent is defined as a child (biological, adopted, step-child or legal ward) of up to twenty-six (26) years of age.
- At the time of application, be accepted to one of the Minnesota State Colleges or Universities with intent to enroll in Fall 2024.
- At the time the scholarship is disbursed (by August 1) be enrolled in courses at the Minnesota State College or University.
- Students are eligible at any point in their educational journey.
- Students are eligible who are enrolled at any credit level, both online and in-person.
TIMELINE:
- March 1: Online applications open
- March 31: Online applications close
- March 31 – April 15: Applications reviewed & winners selected (4 scholarships with at least 1 member and 1 dependent)
- April 16 – May 15: Winners complete acceptance letter and news release authorization
- By April 15: Winners are announced
- By August 1: Funds disbursed to recipients’ campuses for Fall/Spring semesters
TO APPLY:
- Complete the ASF scholarship application form and submit prior to March 31. Recipients will be selected and notified by April 15.
- Winners will be asked to complete and return an acceptance and news release authorization letter by May 31.
